French grading intermediaries compared: 2026
Since 2024, PSA no longer accepts direct individual EU submissions for the general public.
You have to go through a French intermediary: PokéLoutre, Fuji-Store, Playground Arena, or
Booster Breakerz. The four appear in the official intermediaries_fr field of
data/graders.json. Here’s the sourced comparison: flat fee, delay, options,
and which one to pick based on your profile.
Why an intermediary became mandatory
Three combined reasons:
- PSA closed direct EU individual submissions (2024-2025). Except for premium "PSA Collectors Club" accounts, a French private individual can’t ship directly to Sarasota anymore. US graders now group submissions through country-level concessionaires.
- 2026 EU customs (re-import). Without a properly filled re-import declaration, your graded card can be taxed at 20 % VAT on declared value on return. Intermediaries handle this paperwork.
- The 8,000 km parcel risk. A solo shipment to Sarasota without dedicated insurance is Russian roulette. Intermediaries consolidate several submissions into an insured group shipment, which spreads the risk.
For CGC, the Munich hub now allows direct submissions from France via German post, which bypasses the need for an intermediary for CGC. For PSA, however, the intermediary remains practically mandatory for private individuals.
Synthetic comparison table
The numbers below are 2025-2026 ranges observed on public pricing pages and community feedback (r/PokemonTCG francophone, French community forums, X threads). Flat fees evolve frequently: always verify before shipping.
| Intermediary | Min. flat fee | Max. flat fee | Additional EU delay | Specialty |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PokéLoutre | ~€25 / card | ~€50 (premium cards) | +3-4 weeks logistics | FR pioneer, active Discord community, detailed tracking |
| Fuji-Store | ~€25 / card | ~€45 | +2-3 weeks | Paris physical store, drop-off available |
| Playground Arena | ~€30 / card | ~€55 | +3-4 weeks | Multi-grader service (PSA, CGC, BGS) |
| Booster Breakerz | ~€28 / card | ~€50 | +3-4 weeks | Strong Twitch presence, live breaks, sealed options |
Flat fee = intermediary service only, excluding PSA tariff. Add: $24.99 (Value Bulk) to $300 (Super Express). Additional EU delay = logistics time on top of the grader-announced delay.
PokéLoutre: the pioneer
Launched in 2021, PokéLoutre is the most established FR intermediary for PSA. The active Discord community and detailed tracking make it the reference for individual submissions.
- Flat fee: roughly €25 per card all-in, discounted on batches.
- Speed: weekly group shipment to Sarasota, return 8-12 weeks after.
- Tracking: photos on receipt, real-time PSA status, expressly insured return.
- Value cap: suited to €50-2,000 cards. Beyond, custom quotes.
- Strengths: transparency, community, PSA expertise.
- Weaknesses: capacity limited by team size, certain periods saturated.
For most French collectors discovering PSA submissions, PokéLoutre is the default pick. The Discord allows asking questions before shipment and getting experience feedback from other submitters.
Fuji-Store: the Paris drop-off
Fuji-Store combines a physical Paris TCG store and a grading intermediation service. Big advantage: you can drop your cards off in person, no Post Office involved.
- Flat fee: from €25 per card, scaled to value.
- Drop-off: Paris physical store. Eliminates outbound parcel risk.
- Tracking: email system at each step, human contact available.
- Delay: 2-3 weeks of logistics on top of the official PSA tariff.
- Strengths: Paris drop-off, experienced team, clean web platform.
- Weaknesses: less community than PokéLoutre, seasonal capacity.
If you live or work in Paris and want to eliminate the stress of registered shipping, Fuji-Store is the most pragmatic pick. The drop-off function alone justifies the fee.
Playground Arena: the multi-grader
Playground Arena stands out by offering intermediation for several graders: PSA of course, but also CGC and BGS. Relevant if you want to compare or crossover.
- Flat fee: from €30 per card, pricier than PokéLoutre, but multi-service.
- Supported graders: PSA, CGC, BGS (and sometimes others on quote).
- Delay: 3-4 weeks of additional logistics.
- Strengths: multi-grader coverage in one process, pro ecosystem.
- Weaknesses: higher tariff, less transparency on detailed tracking.
Playground Arena is the ideal option if you want to submit 5 cards to PSA and 5 to CGC in the same group shipment, or test a PSA → CGC crossover on a high-potential card.
Booster Breakerz: the Twitch profile
Booster Breakerz made a name via Twitch and live breaks. Grading intermediation is a side service to their main activity, but seriously structured.
- Flat fee: roughly €28 per card, additional options (sealed, packs).
- Specialty: open to sealed grading (booster grading via CGC or CollectAura).
- Delay: 3-4 weeks of additional logistics.
- Strengths: sealed pack knowledge, Twitch presence (live transparency on breaks).
- Weaknesses: less individual submission history than PokéLoutre.
Real total cost for a €100 card via PSA Value Bulk
The intermediary flat fee mechanically adds to the PSA tariff. Here’s the full breakdown for a €100 card submitted to PSA Value Bulk via each of the four intermediaries:
| Intermediary | PSA tariff | Intermediary flat fee | Estimated total | Door-to-door delay |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PokéLoutre | €23 ($24.99) | €25 | ~€48 | 10-14 weeks |
| Fuji-Store | €23 | €25 | ~€48 | 9-12 weeks |
| Playground Arena | €23 | €30 | ~€53 | 10-14 weeks |
| Booster Breakerz | €23 | €28 | ~€51 | 10-14 weeks |
Total = PSA Value Bulk tariff + intermediary flat fee. Delay includes FR consolidation (1-2 weeks), US shipping (1 week), PSA processing (8-13 weeks), US-FR return (1-2 weeks).
On 1 card, the gap between the cheapest (Fuji-Store or PokéLoutre) and the priciest (Playground) is around €5. On a 20-card batch, the cumulative gap reaches €100. Pick based on your preference for the side service (Discord, drop-off, multi-grader).
The forgotten criterion: after-sales service
In case of trouble (lost card, contested grade, transit damage), the intermediary’s customer service becomes critical. Points to check before committing:
- Ad valorem insurance does it cover 100 % of declared value, including during US transit? Check the cap.
- PSA dispute policy: who pays the reslab? On what timeline? Does the intermediary advance the fees?
- Support channel: real-time Discord, ticket with SLA, or simple email? PokéLoutre is best on Discord, Fuji-Store on pro email.
- Photos on receipt: condition proof before US shipping. All four provide this service but with varying quality.
These criteria are not displayed on official pricing pages. French Reddit threads and the community forums remain the best sources to compare actual responsiveness.
Edge case: cards > €5,000
Above €5,000 of declared value, the equation changes. Standard intermediary flat fees no longer cover the risk, and graders offer dedicated premium services (PSA Walk-Through, CGC Walk-Through). On these cards, two options:
- Dedicated high-value submission via intermediary (custom quote, full ad valorem insurance, sometimes escorted transport).
- Equivalent FR route: PCA Excelsior at €590 or CCC value-top + Arcueil drop-off + 2 % insurance on value. Total cost often lower than PSA Walk-Through.
For these cards, the FR route dominates increasingly, because transit risk is eliminated and delay divided by 4. The only case where PSA Walk-Through stays relevant: imminent resale in a US auction house (Heritage, Goldin) where the US slab has a structural premium.
CollectKit recommendation by profile
- First PSA submission: PokéLoutre. Discord community, transparency, educational resources.
- You live in Paris: Fuji-Store. Drop-off eliminates outbound parcel risk.
- You want multi-grader: Playground Arena. PSA + CGC + BGS in one shipment.
- You also submit sealed: Booster Breakerz. Recognized specialty.
- Batch of 20+ cards: negotiate a discounted fee with the intermediary of your choice. On volume, they’re flexible.
One last recommendation: if you only ship 1 or 2 cards, ask yourself if the FR route (CCC, PCA, SFG, CollectAura) wouldn’t be more profitable. On cards < €200, the cost gap intermediary vs FR direct never gets recouped via a PSA premium.
